Here’s an obvious statement: Chris Brown isn’t having the time of his life in jail. Orange is The New Black is not lying — jail is a terrible, terrible place.
When Chris was first sentenced to wait out his trial for violating his probation in his Rihanna case in jail instead of rehab, he and his lawyer reportedly had a plan to pay his way out. Sounds like that idea didn’t work, because two weeks later, Chris is still stuck in his cell, and sources close to the 24-year-old singer tell Hollywood Life he’s feeling more hopeless than ever.
“He’s lost all hope. Jail has broken him,” the source says. “He can’t be upbeat or happy in jail because he doesn’t have control over sh—t. He can’t do anything on his own and he’s told what to do, when to eat, when to sleep and sh—t, and people are watching over him 24/7.”
When we think of jail, we don’t immediately think “upbeat” or “happy,” so we’re not sure why Chris is surprised. Had he not presented himself as a threat to other patients, Chris would still be hanging out in rehab ‘til his April 17 trial, which sounds infinitely better than a jail cell.
Still, doing time would be more bearable if he was able to stay positive and look forward to his release date, which is only a couple of weeks away — at least it’s not a life sentence, right?
“He wants this DC case behind him but he’s not trying to get his hopes up,” the source adds. “He’s not setting himself up for the ultimate failure. He’s just playing the waiting game but he has no hopes either way because he doesn’t want to be let down.”
Our advice to Chris? Next time you think about violating your probation, just… don’t. The jail time isn’t worth it!
